Back in the day, new car rollouts occurred in September and early October. We anxiously tore into Car And Driver and Motor Trend, looking to see what Detroit had to offer. Now new model year rollouts take place…whenever. Already, 2019 models are showing up at dealerships all over the world. Gildshire likes to keep an eye on the automotive happenings, changes and reveals so we can share insights with you. That’s why we are your favorite automotive news magazine year after year. Today, we look at what’s new in the 2019 BMW 4 Series, where we find upgrades here and there, tweaks end to end, and a higher price.
First of all, everyone knows how rare it is for an automaker to update its vehicles without asking for a bit more of your cash. Most of the time, just a few added features will increase a car’s price by some incremental amount. BMW is doing just that with the 2019 4 Series. They increased the price by $1,300 across the board, a number that is indeed incremental for folks who buy Beemers. However, with that price increase comes more standard features. The 2019 BMW 4 Series comes equipped with navigation, (including advanced real-time traffic), an upgraded instrument cluster, and front and rear park distance control. That’s BMW’s system that warns drivers of nearby objects when parking. Additionally, Apple CarPlay is also available for a one-year free trial.
The BMW 4 Series receives several BMW-specific remote services. These include the BMW connected app, which allows owners to locate their car, send destinations from a smartphone to the vehicle, handle the locking/unlocking, and more. The new instrument cluster brings a high-resolution display that displays navigation information.
The added features, even for a little more money upfront, make 2019’s 4 Series more competitive with the likes of the Audi A5 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Hopefully, the changes will draw potential customers into a slow market. Coupes and sedans aren’t hot sellers right now, but for some people the two-door lifestyle is fun. For those folks, the 2019 BMW 4 Series is worth a look.
