This week will go down in history as the week that kick-started a new era of college football. As many already know, this will be the first year in college football where a 4 team playoff bracket will replace the classic yet controversial BCS Championship bowl games. Already this has become a major debate topic all over the sports world. People are arguing whether there should be a bracket of 4 teams, 6 teams, 8 teams, 16 teams, or if there should be a different form of a selection committee where everyone knows who voted for which team to move on. Despite all the arguing, this is where the football system stands as of right now: There is a college football selection committee that is made up of these legendary college football figures:
And So It Begins…
Jeff Long (committee chair), Barry Alvarez, Mike Gould, Pat Haden, Tom Jernstedt, Oliver Luck, Archie Manning, Tom Osborne, Dan Radakovich, Condoleezza Rice, Mike Tranghese,
Steve Wieberg and Tyrone Willingham.
This committee will have the task to decide 4 teams that will play in semifinal games. The winners of the semifinal games will play each other in a Championship game to decide which college is without a doubt the best football team in the nation. Everyone is giving their opinion on the 4 teams that they believe are going to battle it out in the inaugural year of college football playoffs. I encourage you to comment on the 4 teams that you hope/believe will make the cut and make history.
