The French say “Sacre bleu!” The Italians say “Caspita! Bravo!” The Spanish say, “Como celebramos!” In English we say “Holy Schneikies!.”
What is causing these exclamations of wonder? According to MSN Autos, Ford Motor Company is going all-in on Mustang power. Ford is offering a modification package of Power Packs that will turn the already-hot Mustang GT into a 533 horsepower BEAST!
Motor Trend goes into greater detail. They tell us with every Power Pack, Mustang owners will receive Ford Performance calibrations legal in all 50 states. These modifications enhance the throttle’s response. Also included is a ProCal tool that requires an internet connection for installation.
The improvements are available for both auto and manual transmissions, and a “no-lift shift strategy” is offered for manual models. Automatic transmission equipped cars get an optimized performance shift schedule.
These horsepower enhancements are being offered in three stages. Each stage provides a bigger wallop than the one before. Each stage is more expensive than the one before. Stage One provides a 13 horsepower gain for $539. Stage Two offers 21 more horses, at a cost of $929. Stage Three boosts the pony car’s horsepower output by 60 and costs $2,349. Ninety four horses on top of the 439 offered by the standard GT means tons of power and peak performance!
The Power Packs require premium fuel and are currently only offered for North American-spec Mustang GT models. They are “add-ons,” unavailable for purchase as part of an option list selection.
