Bosch is a car parts company. The company’s innovative forward-thinking has developed state-of-the-art braking systems, suspension parts, and aftermarket lighting. Today, Bosch is apparently finding solutions for the ongoing Covid-19 Virus. In a recent breakthrough that may be game-changing, a Bosch test detects Coronavirus in less than three hours. This news intrigued Gildshire to no end, so we went after more information. Motoring Research helped with the research.
Less than three hours! That’s incredible!
Yes, and the news gets even better from there. Because this test can be conducted without being sent to a remote site, it eliminates a need to transport test samples.
How did Bosch get this done?
It took just six weeks and a partnership with the Irish medical tech company Randox Laboratories. The company says it believes their test will be available next month in Germany. Other markets will likely follow soon after. Bosch/Randox says this is the first completely automated Molecular Diagnostic Test known.
So, how does it work?
A small sample is taken out of the patient’s throat or nose by use of a swab. The cartridge goes into a device for analysis. There is no special diagnostic training required. As importantly, medical staff remains free to perform their other important tasks while waiting for the test results.
This positive result can come sooner than before, (and without blood) because Bosch test detects coronavirus in 2.5 hours.
It takes 100 test devices to grade 1,000 tests a day. In the lab, Bosch scored over 95% accuracy, meeting the World Health Organization standards.
Dr. Volkmar Denner, Chairman of the Board for Bosch, said:
“We want the Bosch rapid COVID-19 test to play a part in containing the coronavirus pandemic as quickly as possible. It will speed up the identification and isolation of infected patients.
Time is of the essence in the fight against coronavirus. Reliable, rapid diagnosis directly on-site with no back and forth – that is the great advantage of our solution.”
Marc Meier, Bosch Healthcare Solutions chief, added:
“The special feature of the Bosch test is that it offers differential diagnosis, which saves doctors the additional time needed for further tests. It also provides them with a reliable diagnosis quickly so they can then begin suitable treatment faster. Together with our partner Randox, we have succeeded in developing this innovative rapid test within a very short time frame, and we are now in a position to offer it to the market. The Bosch Vivalytic analysis device evaluates the test safely and reliably directly in the hospital, in the lab, or in the doctor’s office, guaranteeing the best possible protection for patients and medical staff.”
Current guidelines in Germany and the U.K. are to stay inside except for food, health reasons, or work that cannot be done from home. People must also remain two meters apart.
During a time when the worldwide medical community is looking for answers, and a waiting public is waiting for good news, this could be both. If the Bosch test detects Coronavirus in 2.5 hours consistently, treatment could be afoot for millions of sufferers, and test results may be swift for those suffering the anxiety of waiting for a test to be deciphered. Gildshire offers a six-foot-away standing ovation to Bosch.
