Resistance bands are a common sight in any local gym, but they can also be great tools for working out anywhere. Why are they so great? Here are a few reasons why exercising with resistance bands is a good idea.
Cost
The home version of any great gear you’d find in a gym’s workout room has to be expensive. Resistance bands, even when bought on their own, can be purchased for very cheap, sometimes for under $10. Even getting a resistance band as part of a larger fitness bundle won’t break the bank either. There are more deluxe kits available that can include pamphlets, instructional DVDs or add-ons that can be had for $50 or less.
Exercising With Resistance Bands
Space
Unlike investing in equipment like a bench press kit or a treadmill, a resistance band doesn’t require much space. When working out with them, you will only need the radius a little bigger than your wingspan. Then, when you’re done with your workout, it can easily be stored in a box, a drawer or closet, or even on a hook until you’re ready to use it again.
Furthermore, because resistance bands are so small and lightweight, they can easily be stored in a suitcase, allowing you to get a good workout when you travel.
Adjustability
You don’t need to be a workout guru to benefit from a resistance band. Because of the ability to adjust the resistance and slack of any given band, you can use one even if you’re a beginner. Less resistance and strain is a good place to start until you build up your abilities and then you can add resistance for more intensity as you progress.
A Good Workout
All of the above traits of a resistance band are all well and good, but if it doesn’t result in a good workout, it’s all for naught. Fortunately, resistance bands do deliver results, and they can be used in so many different ways. Depending on your exercise of choice, you can get a full-body workout with a band. Whether you’re using them for squats, bicep curls, or adding them into your more common moves like push-ups or sit-ups, resistance bands will help you on your way to increased stamina, range of motion, muscle solidity, and flexibility.
