Health Benefits of Owning a Dog
The health benefits of owning a dog are well-established. Let’s remind ourselves why we should go to a local dog shelter and bring a dog home. Dogs help us live longer and healthier lives. The main reason behind this is that dogs encourage physical activity. A dog will keep you fit and active, encourage you to take them for long walks on weekends, and help you maintain a healthy weight or even lose weight.
Plus, pets lower the level of stress and improve our overall mental health. Dogs can improve your social life, add meaning and purpose to your life. There is no reason for therapy if you have a dog. Spending just a few minutes with a pet can lower your blood pressure and lower anxiety. Pets increase the level of dopamine and serotonin which are two neurochemicals that play a big role in wellbeing and feeling calm and stress-free.
Getting a pet dog has many benefits, though of course, it is also important to remember that this is also a big responsibility. You must commit to looking after your new friend: this includes exercising them daily, grooming them regularly, and making sure they eat a healthy diet. Ketogenic pet food like Visionarypet grain-free dog food helps to ensure that they get all the nutrients they need, as well as avoiding allergies and other health issues.
People performing stressful tasks have better results when there is a dog around. So many reasons to have a dog!
A plant-based diet with more vegetables, fruits and less meat is beneficial for both human health and the environment.
How to Change your Diet to Benefit Your Health and Planet
A plant-based diet with more vegetables and fruits and less meat is beneficial for both your human health and the environment. A recent report released last month by the EAT Lancet Commission states:
“Food is the single strongest lever to optimize human health and environmental sustainability on Earth. However, food is currently threatening both people and planet.”
More than 30 scientists around the world were brought together to create EAT Lance Commission on a healthy diet. The report is not only a multi-disciplinary report but it is also a multicultural report where scientists from 16 countries contributed to the findings.
Harvard University professor Walter Willett and professor Johan Rockström from the Potsdam Institute and Stockholm Resilience Centre presented the report at the University of Oslo Aula. Johan Rockström said:
“The unique feature of this first-ever scientific assessment is that we got the medical scholars to work together with the sustainability scholars for the first time. Advancing an integrated, universal framework to quantify healthy diets and sustainable food systems.”
Humanity today is facing a crisis when it comes to the environment, and also when it comes to human health and overall well-being. From environmental changes to obesity and undernutrition issues around the world. Today, we have approximately 1 billion people who are undernourished. Yet several billion people who are overweight or have poor diets. The majority of the world’s population is malnourished. This is because they have too much or too little of the right foods.
According to the report, unhealthy diets pose a great risk to morbidity and mortality than alcohol, sex, tobacco, and drugs combined. At the same time, the food system is destroying the environment. The food production system is among the largest drivers of environmental degradation. It is a great threat to ecosystem resilience and stability. Agriculture occupies approximately 405 of global land. Food production is responsible for 305 of global greenhouse gas emissions and 70% of freshwater use. Eating a plant-based diet could be our individual approach to improving our health and helping mother Earth at the same time.
Why We Should Eat Spicy Food
Spicy food is something that you love or something that you simply don’t like. If you are not a fan of spicy food then you should add something spicy to your diet at least once a week. If you are a fan of spicy food than there is no need to encourage you any further to reach for something spicy.
Why should you eat spicy food as much as possible? The first reason is that spicy foods like chili peppers contain compounds that help us boost our metabolism. Besides this, it also curbs sugar cravings. If you are craving sweets in the afternoon, instead of your favorite candy bar, eat something spicy for lunch.
Plus, researchers proved that spicy food reduces inflammation, boosts your immune system, spices up your libido, and reduces symptoms of depression.
Inflammation is behind many serious illnesses. Reducing inflammation has a positive effect on fighting serious diseases such as cancer and heart issues. Also, you can build your immunity on healthy spicy food. If you eat hot Doritos it won’t do much to your immunity but hot lemon water with a little bit of cayenne will clean your system.
