Good Psychological Health Has a Great Impact on Overall Heart Health
According to a review paper published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, maintaining positive thoughts through intervention programs helped patients achieve overall better outcomes when it comes to their cardiovascular health.
Darwin R. Labarthe, MD, MPH, PhD, professor of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the review’s lead author said:
“We addressed how social environment, psychological well-being and the effectiveness of intervention strategies can help strengthen a patient’s outlook. We focused on whether psychological well-being can be consistently related with a reduced risk of heart disease.”
The paper defines cardiovascular health problems in two different parts: health factors (blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol level) and health behaviors such as physical activity, body mass index, diet and smoking.
The authors of the study looked at whether psychological well-being can reduce the risk of heart disease. Previous studies showed a positive relationship between heart disease and optimism. The most optimistic patients manage to sustain a healthy diet by consuming more vegetables and fruits while eating fewer sweets and meats which lead to patients maintaining a healthy BMI.
The authors of the study found that psychological well-being has a positive impact on a heart health through healthy behaviors, biological processes and psychosocial resources.
The review authors found that psychological well-being influenced heart health through biological processes, health behaviors and psychosocial resources. Darwin R. Labarthe said:
“Optimists persevere by using problem-solving and planning strategies to manage stressors. If others are faced with factors out of their control, they begin to shift their goals and use potentially maladaptive coping strategies, which would ultimately result in raising inflammation levels and less favorable overall heart health.”
Medical Cannabis is Effective in Treating a Wide Range of Health Conditions
Researchers at the University of New Mexico found that medical cannabis provides immediate symptom relief across dozens of health symptoms with minimal negative side effects.
In two recently published studies: “Patient-Reported Symptom Relief Following Medical Cannabis Consumption,” and “Effectiveness of Raw, Natural Medical Cannabis Flower for Treating Insomnia under Naturalistic Conditions” found that patients experienced significant therapeutic benefits when they used medical cannabis for symptoms from insomnia to chronic pain.
These studies collected and analyzed data with the help of Releaf App, developed by co-authors of the study Keenan Keeling, Franco Brockelman and Branden Hall. They managed to gather information on the consumption and effects of medical cannabis use in the United States with almost 100,000 recorded users.
Jacob Vigil said: “If the results found in our studies can be extrapolated to the general population, cannabis could systematically replace multi-billion-dollar medication industries around the world. It is likely already beginning to do so.”
Across 27 different health conditions with symptoms from depression to seizure disorder, users of the app reported an average symptom reduction of almost 4 points on a scale from 1 to 10 following the consumption of medical cannabis in various forms from topicals to concentrates.
Is Dairy Healthy?
Most of us love cheese and cream in our coffee but we shouldn’t overdo it. Dairy products have been associated with heart disease and some other health problems. However, the research-based evidence has been inconsistent, and some studies confirmed the opposite.
The connection between dairy products and heart disease risk has been inconsistent. In a meta-analysis of 29 studies which is published in the European Journal of Epidemiology found no link between death from cardiovascular disease and consumption of dairy products. From the other side, the 20-years longs study published in BMJ found that women who tend to drink a lot of milk have double risk of dying early compared to women who don’t.
We should not forget that the dairy products are full of calcium and good stuff for our body. Calcium is the important mineral that keeps our bones strong. It’s essential to have enough calcium in our body and if we are not eating any dairy products makes sure that you eat food rich in calcium such as seeds, sardines and beans. Although many people report experiencing difficulties related to dairy consumption, the related problems can be linked to the ways dairy products are made and which additives are included in a product. Therefore, we should always make sure that we are eating organic and healthy food.
