Exercise Four Times a Week for a Healthy Heart
A new study suggests that those who exercise four to five times a week have a healthiest heart. A research published in The Journal of Physiology found that the amount of exercising had different effects on sized arteries. As we age, the arteries which are blood vessels that carry blood from the heart to the tissues of any part of our body began to stiffen. Of course, this can lead to a higher risk of heart disease.
The study looked into 102 people who were 60 years old and physically active through their lives. Researchers measured the arterial stiffness dividing them into groups of people based on how often they exercise: less than two days a week, two to three days a week, four to five days or six to seven days a week.
Researchers have found that exercising two to three days per week can be sufficient to minimize stiffening of middle-sized arteries. However, those who exercise four to five days per week will keep central arteries young in addition to their middle-sized arteries. Middle-sized arteries supply blood to the head and neck while central arteries supply the abdomen and chest.
We need more research in this area to establish whether a diet or social factors have influence.
Dr. Benjamin Levine, a co-author of the study said:
“This work is really exciting because it enables us to develop exercise programs to keep the heart youthful and even turn back time on older hearts and blood vessels.”
How to Beat Mental Health Issues?
We are all familiar with that feeling of anxiety whether we are preparing for exams, asking someone to go with us on a date or we have an important job interview. Anxiety can be associated with positive events in our lives as well as that feeling of butterflies and panic when we have something good happening to us.
A state of mind or a feeling becomes a mental issue when it overwhelms us and affects our ability to function day by day.
We all have some type of stress in our lives and believe it or not we are dealing with stress better than we think we are. We have a stressful meeting at work but we still wake up and go to work that day, we don’t stay home deliberately avoiding a stressful situation that is important for our work.
It’s crucial when we deal with someone who has a mental health issue to ask for professional help and to get as much support as we can from family, friends, and our community. Even if you think you are all alone, there is always some type of association or organization where we can meet people who have the same issue as us and who are not afraid to seek help. Professional help is the core of dealing with a mental health problem, however, all the support that we can get from our community, physical activity, volunteer work, helping others, hobbies and joining clubs is extremely beneficial.
What Does a Proposal to Cut Planned Parenthood Funds Mean?
President Trump is ready to fulfill his campaign promise to “defund” Planned Parenthood. Last year, Congress failed to stop or reduce funding for Planned Parenthood when the bill faced Democratic objections and did not receive the 60 votes needed to pass in the Senate.
Planned Parenthood provides a broad service when it comes to reproductive health serving men and women, it also provides abortion services using nonfederal funds. As you can imagine, cutting off funding is the top priority for any anti-abortion-rights groups which all heavily supported President Trump.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of a group that opposes abortion released a statement saying:
“A win like this would immediately disentangle taxpayers from the abortion business and energize the grassroots as we head into the critical midterm elections.”
However, people like Dawn Laguens who is an executive vice president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America stresses the broader importance of Planned Parenthood where abortions are not the main focus:
“We’ve been very clear, Planned Parenthood has an unwavering commitment to ensuring everyone has access to the full range of reproductive health care, and that includes abortion.”
