“Here comes the sun!” as The Beatles said. Summer is approaching and we all have got to get ready for it! The beach is the most common vacation spot so it is imperative to get the intel on the 2019 beach trends. Now of course, some beaches are different than others and require taking different measures. Consider these thoughts and adapt them how you need for your favorite beach!
Growing up we all were told not to stare at the sun, which of course made us look right at it. But right there we learned exactly why we should not be looking at the sun…the brightness of it is so powerful it stings and makes it difficult to see. That’s why sunglasses were created. Especially when at the beach where the sun is stronger and there is minimal shade, sunglasses are necessary to protect the eyes. Thankfully, there are many fashionable styles to choose from so this form of protection is stylish as well as practical.
Similar to sunglasses, has are primarily for protection against the rays of the sun. While straw hats and wide brim hats have become very popular these days, even just a cap repping your favorite sports team or the like would be excellent coverage. The lighter the color, the better because black and other dark colors absorb heat, whereas white and other light colors reflect it. Therefore, a navy blue hat with make your head hotter than a yellow hat.
Going to the beach often entails walking through town or grabbing dinner on the way home so having a cute cover up is a must. A button up or a midi dress is this summer’s go to, but also using a stylish kimono is a great choice too. Kimonos can also be layered for a dinner date over a blouse and colorful shorts.
White swimsuits are in! All over Instagram are posts of women sporting white swimsuits and many brands carry this color, too. Whether your suit of choice is a bikini, one piece, or something in the middle (it totally depends on your own level of comfortability), you cannot go wrong with white. Plus, a white suit allows for a pop of color in your choice of accessories. Pair it with a bright yellow sun hat or floral kimono and you are good to go!
The most sensible shoe option for the beach is the flip flop because they really come in and of. One of the negatives of the flip flop is the lack of support they tend to have. If you have low arches, looking into the few brands of flip flops that provide support might be beneficial for you.
When flip flops just are not going to cut it, consider water shoes. Now you are probably thinking, “Ew, water shoes are so ugly,” but actually there are a few types out there that are not so bad. Some beaches are more pebbley than sandy, which would be better handled with water shoes than bare feet. To keep our feet safe and comfortable, water shoes are important. Search Amazon for some cute shoes. Bright colors are in this summer so find a bright peach or aqua blue and those will be trendy water shoes.
If you are feeling really trendy, consider getting a straw tote that matches your straw hat. But really, any large, colorful tote bag that can fit your standard beach gear is optimal. Bags with beach puns are very popular now and add a bit of humor to the day. Who does not love a swell beach pun? 🙂
A trip to the beach can look very different depending on the person going. These thoughts on trends might be applicable for some, but not all, and that is okay! Everyone has their own preferences so go with what makes your heart happy.
