Multiple studies have found a strong correlation between obesity and hours of TV watching. Sitting has an impact on our metabolism, and it can decrease the activity of fat burning enzymes which leads to weight problems. We spend too much time sitting, whether we sit all day at work or in a car and then in front of out TV screens.
We all need some time to relax on the couch with a bowl of popcorns and our favorite movie. Sometimes you just must watch the next episode of your favorite TV show or sports event while you reschedule your exercise session. Why not have the best of that one hour in a day, while watching television and exercising at the same time.
Exercise With Weights
From lateral raises to bicep curls, you have no excuse for not exercising. If you would like to sit down while watching TV, you can do some seated bicep curls. Choose some reasonably heavy dumbbells and enjoy watching Dancing with the Stars.
Exercise with a Machine
Position your machine so you can watch television while working out. If you need to turn your head left or right to watch TV, then you need to reposition your machine. Use a treadmill and start your workout by walking for five minutes and then increase your speed and run for the next ten minutes. Walk for another five minutes and repeat until you’re done watching TV. In the same way, you can use an elliptical machine.
Visit a local Gym with a Cardio Cinema
If you don’t have an expensive exercise machine or you don’t want to place your treadmill in the middle of your TV room, then consider getting a gym membership. Today, a great number of gyms have cardio cinemas that have exercise equipment instead of movie theater seats.
Exercise Without Weights
There are a great number of exercises that you can do while comfortably watching TV. Do some jumping jacks and burn some calories while watching your favorite TV show or do some sit-ups during commercials as you won’t be able to watch TV while doing it.
