Why the Morning Matters?
If you start your morning right, you are more likely to have a more productive and joyful day. Yes, outstanding issues might happen here and there but how you start your day is crucial for the rest of your day. There are plenty of morning habits that you can embrace for better mornings. Try avoiding snoozing your alarm, try to do yoga for 10 to 15 minutes, and meditate each morning. On top of this, it’s crucial you have a healthy breakfast and avoid the rush and busy mornings where it seems that you are already late for everything. Make sure you take care of yourself before you leave your home. Have a healthy breakfast, stretch, have a shower, and most importantly, have a cup of coffee.
I’m not a Morning Person
Maybe your most productive hours are in the morning or later in the day but it’s important how you start your day. Infuse positivity into your morning rituals. And remember we all have morning rituals; it just depends on what are your morning rituals. Maybe your ritual starts with a snooze and rushing through the house while having breakfast and getting ready for work. If this is your morning, you might think you are not a morning person. You need to change your morning routine to have more joyful mornings which can impact the day ahead of you.
How to Have a Joyful Morning with Your Morning Coffee
How Do We Start Our Mornings?
Most of us start our mornings with a cup of coffee. Coffee brings us joy and comfort. If we learned anything from 2020 it is that we should engage in things that are fulfilling and joyful.
If you are looking for a moment of pause in the morning instead of rushing, here are a few things that you can do.
Go for a Walk
You might have a habit to take your coffee with you on the commute to work. If you have an option to walk to your work (or at least part of it) have your cup of coffee and go for a short or longer walk. You can consider it to be a walking meditation and your daily dose of vitamin D on a sunny day.
Do You Grind Your Own Beans?
If you want to make sure your coffee is fresh and aromatic, you need to embrace the habit of grinding your coffee daily. It might take longer but it’s worth it.
Margaret Nyamumbo, a third-generation coffee farmer:
“Whole bean holds the flavor longer, and you can enjoy fresh coffee for longer over time. Whole bean is also likely to be of higher quality, since the whole bean is visible, versus just grounds that you can’t inspect directly for quality.”
Also, you should make sure that your coffee is as fresh as possible. If you want to have pre-ground coffee to prolong the taste. How can you do this? Nyamumbo explains:
“Oxygen, moisture, and light are the enemies to coffee’s freshness, so you want to keep the coffee away from these elements.”
Additionally, you can add a few dashes of spices into the grounds. There are a few options such as cinnamon, vanilla extract, nutmeg, and peppermint.
Why the quality of your coffee should matter for your overall happiness. If you enjoy something you should develop a habit of treating yourself and making sure you are getting the best out of it.
Find things that bring you joy. Coffee might not make you a morning person, but it will certainly make your early hours more joyful.
