Last week, Amazon founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos has become the third wealthiest man in the world, unseating investor, and philanthropist, Warren Buffett, but not for too long.
In one day, Bezos’ net worth was $65 billion, which was $300 million more than Buffet’s net worth. Amazon stocking performance is strong in the past few years, and their stock has risen almost by 8% which was enough to put Jeff Bezos ahead of Warren Buffett for the first time. Jeff Bezos was not able to hold this rank for a full day, since his net worth dropped $400 million below Warren Buffet’s net worth, putting Bezos back to fourth place.
Jeff Bezos appeared on Forbes top ten richest people in the world list in 2016, with a net worth of $45.2 billion. At that point, he was a fifth richest man in the world. Jeff Bezos was on the 400 richest Americans list in 1998 with a net worth of $1.9 billion, only four years after he founded Amazon. Warren Buffett appeared on the Forbes list of 400 richest Americans in 1982 (net worth of 250 million).
Two richest men in the world are Microsoft founder Bill Gates (net worth of $79.4 billion) and founder Zara, Amancio Ortega (net worth of $74.4 billion).
