For all of you Frasier fans who loved the dysfunctional psychiatrist brothers, Niles and Frasier Crane and their adventures, you can now catch the work of the actors who portrayed them, David Hyde Pierce and Kelsey Grammer on Broadway this summer.
Grammer stars as Captain Hook in Finding Neverland, the beloved Peter Pan musical based on the 2005 movie, and Hyde Pierce made his directorial debut in the comedy, It Shoulda Been You. Therefore technically you will enjoy the creativity of David Hyde Pierce not his acting skills.
Both of these shows have been major hits with audiences, with Finding Neverland receiving the most nominations, a total of 11, at the 2015 Broadway.com Audience Choice Awards.
Finding Neverland is a show not to be missed if you are in New York this summer, but if you want to catch the former Dr. Crane and see him as the swash buckling Captain Hook, you better hurry as Kelsey Grammer will be taking a hiatus from mid-July to September 13th.
David Hyde Pierce’s play about a wedding day shenanigans, did not receive very positive critical reviews, but audiences are having a laugh and that’s what matters in the end, entertainment. A bit of light comedy can make for the perfect night at the theater.
Maybe it is wishful thinking but we would love to see these two reunite, and this time in the same production, maybe a Broadway adaptation of Frasier? Fans would fill those seats every night, guaranteed.
Until then we’ll take what we can get from these talented former colleagues.
