Do you go wild over exfoliating scrubs? If so, then you’re sure to love at least some of these natural DIY recipes for face and body scrubs. It’s so simple and easy to make something that is comparable to (or even better than) products that you find in the stores.
The basic body scrub recipe that you will start out with consists of 2 cups of sugar or Epsom salt, 1 cup of carrier oil such as grapeseed or sesame, ad 8 to 10 drops of an essential oil of your choice. Start out with the sugar or salt in a bowl, and then slowly mix in the oil until it is blended smooth. If you have some oil left over, don’t worry about it. Add in your essential oil(s) at this point. Store it in a canning jar with a tight-fitting lid, or a decorative container.
Bear in mind that Epsom salt is best when you want a scrub that has larger grains, and sugar should be used when you want finer grains. Also, avoid olive oil if you think it may be overpowering with the essential oil that you select.
Alternatives
If you would prefer something a bit different, there are numerous options for natural DIY face and body scrubs. Use cornmeal, baking soda, dried azuki beans, lemon juice and yogurt with oatmeal, and sugar with honey, among other things. They all provide you with a slightly different texture, but all of them are effective at exfoliating your skin.

You may find this to be more than a little odd. However, the parsley and lettuce in this recipe really help bring it all together as an ideal scrub. It may not be as well known, but it works just as well. Take a plant-oil based soap and shave a bit off of it, then chop up the greens with a processor or mortar and pestle. Mix them together, adding the wheat bran and oatmeal.
Sugar, Spice and Pumpkin
This type of scrub may not sound appealing at all. However, these Thanksgiving meal items leave you feeling refreshed. Blend together ½ cup of pumpkin puree, ¼ tsp of ground cinnamon, and ½ cup of brown sugar. One thing is for certain – you will smell amazing!
Rose Almond
These two are simply delightful together natural DIY face and body scrubs. You can grind up ½ cup of finely ground almonds or almond flour. Take a teaspoon of rosewater and blend it with the mixture to create a paste that is sure to have excellent benefits.
