I wanted to write about something totally different, but then I saw this.
I usually don’t pay attention on celebrities and I understand that they are humans too, but I just have to speak my mind about actors and plastic surgeries. Renee Zellweger is not alone, so many actresses felt pressured to do the same.
Celebrities are just like us!? They are humans too! Oh, for a while I thought they were aliens. We have to realize that we are all different and they have different environment. We are not judged by everyone, our bad photo without make up and in our sweatpants won’t be on the cover of some magazine. They have huge pressure to look spotless and beautiful all the time. I can’t imagine how strong you have to be to accept ageing and wrinkles in front of the cameras.
Helen Mirren is probably the great example of graceful ageing.
In Hollywood, women are more pressured (and less paid) then men. George Clooney is just fabulous, although he is 53 years old. I never heard man saying that some woman in her 50s is beautiful and sexy. Some would say that even thinking something like that is gross and totally unacceptable. There must be something wrong with you if you think old grandma is hot, but George Clooney, Denzel Washington (57), Liam Neeson (60) are just smoking hot.
What kind of message we send to women in their 40s, 50s?
You better look like you’re 25 or you’re done. It takes to be a strong woman to say:”No!”
Gender equality is a great idea, but not reality. Maybe you feel equal in your surrounding and that’s great, but so many women don’t feel that way.
Great actress like Helen Miren probably understands that her face and her natural smile is important for her acting. How are you going to act sadness or happiness if you can’t move a single muscle. But, we are talking about Hollywood, acting skills are not the most important thing, being young is more relevant.
I don’t want to finish this feeling bitter, so here is picture of man who was pressured by society to look pretty and hot.
