The eye-catching Spitfire Bobber
Important motorcycle news came out of Great Britain this week, as England’s Clews Competition Machines recently released the latest addition to its Spitfire lineup. The all-new Spitfire Bobber is an eye-catching addition to the boutique bikemaker’s lineup. Gildshire, always on the lookout for beauty, whether in motorcycle or automotive news, set out to find out what’s new in the newest bobber on the market.
Immediately apparent, this is not your father’s bobber. Indeed, the CCM Spitfire Bobber looks quite different than the traditional ones put out by Triumph. For one thing, it’s a hand-made steel frame. In addition, the new Bobber boasts a unique array of parts differentiating it from the CCM Tracker, Scrambler, and Cafe. Atop the bobber-style pipes, oversized rear fender, and floating solo saddle, the new CCM also sports a handful of modern touches. Namely, its springless nitrogen rear mono-shock, carbon fiber fenders and cowl, full LED lighting throughout, and Avon whitewall tires. Carrying the same 55 horsepower, 600cc, four-stroke single as the rest of the Spitfire range, the new bobber is expected to perform near the top of its class.
But, let’s deal with the elephant in the room. This thing is gorgeous! The design lines, execution, and craftsmanship make it super impressive. The welds on the frame and exhausts are exquisite (and we don’t remember the last time we used “exquisite” for welds.) They combine with the small hand-cut slits in the fenders and mufflers to demonstrate an acute attention to detail. That’s the thing about boutique manufacturers like CCM. There’s no way to fake expert work.
Do you want one? Well, you had better hurry. They don’t crank these things out like flapjacks at the local IHOP. The folks at the Clews Competition Machines shop expect to produce 150 copies of the Spitfire Bobber this year. That’s it, and that’s all.
Based on how quickly the Spitfire Tracker, Cafe, and Scrambler models sold out, it’s safe to assume these won’t last long. The discerning biker will scoop them up, leaving the procrastinator to wish for faster reflexes.
How much, you ask? The CCM Spitfire Bobber is available with an MSRP of $13,930, and in our humble opinion worth every penny.
