A New Survey: Americans Remain Positive about Technology and Innovation
We live in times when we are accustomed to being divided, however, Americans agreed on one thing, on positive attitudes about technology and innovation, where they show widespread optimism.
Although technology also has a bad reputation especially in the past few years, Americans remain positive that technology will lead us into a better life.
In the recent study conducted by the Charles Koch Institute, Americans’ are mostly very much positive when it comes to technology. More precisely, 92% of Americans indicated they believe that innovation and technology will be a big part of their culture and their history.
Technology helped in fields such as medical innovation, technology gives us more freedom to express ourselves, it connects us and overall, it has a positive impact on our overall health.
According to the National Science Foundation:
“Every two years the National Science Foundation publishes a report on the state of U.S. science and engineering enterprise. The 2018 report confirmed that the U.S. continues to rank first globally on a number of key innovation metrics including most investment in research and development, attracts the most venture capital investment, awards the most advanced degrees, and is the largest producer in high-tech manufacturing sectors.”
The study reports that people are more focused on buying technology for its productivity, not for the brand or the product name. Also, the study suggests that Americans are not obsessed with artificial intelligence, but they are hopeful when it comes to AI. Artificial intelligence is the main reason for concern whether we talk about specialists and experts or everyday people who know little or nothing about AI.
Business Mobility Technology
Today, technology is not just linked to office work and sitting behind a table. We can work on the go, from home and be available on our phones and laptops. This can be beneficial for employees and employers if used accordingly without interfering too much with our personal lives.
Technology has a great impact on businesses and it usually has positive effects on overall productivity.
An expert from the Information Technology says remote business management which functions by using technology can enhance productivity.
The Chief Executive Officer, Autusbridge Consulting, Mr. Olugbenga Johnson said:
“Technological support for businesses is no longer limited to the office setting. Field activities ranging from sales, technical services, logistics, courier, marketing and Point of Sale merchandising can be managed remotely in real time. This technological intervention or concept is called Business or Enterprise Mobility.”
Business mobility is an approach in which employees are free to do their jobs from anywhere by using different devices and applications.
“Enterprise mobility is thriving on the heels of increasing Internet penetration, availability of low-cost smart devices and increasing adaptability of the various solutions to different business operational models.”
It’s important to stress that technology mobility should be used as a choice during the working hours not as a must after 8 working hours or it can have bad effects on productivity and the overall mental and physical health of employees.
How Technology Can Help Psychotherapists
Many patients who need psychotherapy are often unable to see a therapist due to living far away from the nearest psychotherapist, or being physically unable to travel due to illness, or having fear of the stigma of being seen going to therapy or simply they don’t have time to go and see therapists due to work, home or school obligations.
Technology provided some solutions for those who are not able to see therapists face to face.
Virtual therapy has been used in web-based cognitive behavioral therapy treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder. This is a web-based treatment which can help with anxiety, depression, social phobias, or PTSD.
The U.S. Defense Department’s TRICARE program is the program for service members, retirees, and their families. With TRICARE, users of the platform speak “face-to-face” with mental-health counselors around the clock, wherever they live in the United States or not.
Benefits of virtual therapy are countless but one of the most important ones is that the client is able to see therapists even when he or she is out of town for vacation or work. However, it has its bad sides as well. Therapists can see patients’ face but maybe they can’t see the body language and this language is very much important for giving therapists more information about emotions and thoughts of patients. Also, the lack of personal contact can be bad for the final outcome of therapy.
