What is the best night-time routine? A good night-time routine is one of the most important pillars of overall well-being together with diet and exercise.
Are you struggling with sleep? Do you feel tired in the morning, like you did not sleep at all? Do you wake up thinking you would feel better if you did not sleep at all? A solid night of sleep and rest has probably the biggest impact on how we feel the next day. Our day is almost determined by how much sleep we had the night before.
In stressful times, it is important to pay attention to your sleep. More than often, during those times, we might struggle to get enough sleep, from the inability to close our eyes once we are in bed to staying up at night to complete all tasks or to meet all deadlines. If you are a mom, then you are more likely to struggle to get enough sleep. In that case, you must think about the sleeping pattern for the whole family including children. What can you do to ensure to get enough sleep?
Night-Time Routine No 1 – Wrap up Your Day
Wrap up your day. One hour before going to bed, try to wrap up your day. Complete all work that needs to be done and this should be family time or time for yourself. Before going to bed you should stop thinking and talking about work-related issues and news you just read. One hour before sleep should be dedicated completely to yourself or your family.
Night-Time Routine No 2 – Read Instead of Binge-Watching Your Favorite TV Show
Read! This one can be difficult for some. Instead of binge-watching your favorite TV show, pick up a book. It is easy to fall into a cycle of watching another episode, and then only one more. Create a healthy habit of reading instead of watching TV. Although it is hard to break a bad habit, it will be worth your time. Stay determined and persistent to do what is good for you in the long run not for what feels good now.
The Right Environment for a Good Night Sleep

Create a relaxing environment. Besides the regular hygiene which includes clean sheets, and brushing your teeth, go for essential oils, hand cream, and body cream that will help you create a relaxing environment. Experiment with essential oils and find the ones which will help you get a goodnight rest. Additionally, set up your room temperature at 67 degrees which is according to researchers is an optimal temperature for a good sleep. Also, make sure you have the right shades in your room which are super important especially if you live in a big city with streetlights coming through your window.
Night-Time Routine No 4 – Electronic Shutdown
Leave the phone out of your bedroom. It is crucial to keep your phone away from your bed. Avoid the temptation of grabbing your phone, checking social media, work emails, and reading news. If you do not have that self-control of not looking at your phone, leave it out of your bedroom. Have an electronic shutdown at least one hour before going to bed. Again, this is another bad habit that can be hard to break.
