With the holidays coming up, it is time to start thinking about gifts for your loved ones. Some people are easy to shop for, others not so much. The struggle of what to get someone is a stressful, but thankfully the internet is so helpful with generating ideas. In thinking about the impending gift exchanges, here is a list of gift ideas for the artistically inclined person in your life:
Art Socks – Fun patterned socks are all the rage right now. Even famous paintings are being turned into socks! A pair of these for the artist in your life would certainly be appreciated.
Catalogue of Favorite Artist/Art Movement – Especially for the art history buff, finding a catalogue book of the receiver’s favorite artist or movement is a thoughtful gift. It shows that you know what your loved one likes and is something that not only they can appreciate. Catalogues make for great coffee table books, for any visitor to look at.
Coloring Books – A wonderful way to de-stress, especially during such a chaotic time like the holidays. Coloring is a meditative practice that has so many benefits for stress relief and inner wisdom.

Coasters – As a something that is actually quite useful and usually lying around the house, coasters should at least be nice to look at. For the artistically inclined person, coasters that have a piece of art as the picture on them would be something very pleasant to use. For the artist that appreciates humor, perhaps a comedic twist on a famous piece of art would be a good gift.
Deck of Cards – Most people enjoy card games now and again and there are so many designs out there on them. If your loved one enjoys cards, consider finding a deck that has pictures of famous art on them to cater the deck to your loved one.
Drinking Glass – Whether their drink of choice is coffee, wine, or soda, it is always nice to have a designated glass to use for certain situations. A comedic saying for the glass could be something along the lines of “This is NOT for cleaning brushes” or “Drink me, not the other one.” It can be hazardous to drink things while making art so having a special glass would (hopefully) make it easier to drink the safe liquid, not the one brushes have been sitting in.
Calendar/Planner – Many people utilize calendars and/or planners to say organized. For those who are interested in the art world, why not get them one that has a famous art piece for each month or one that has a favorite piece of theirs as the cover, or something along those lines. As something that they would be looking at everyday, it would be a lovely idea to make it one that they would immensely enjoy.

Inspirational Books – There are hundreds of books published that are all about getting creativity and giving inspiration. Whether it be a hands on workbook, or just a regular reading book, it might be a nice gift to give to someone. Even if they do not seem to need it, you never know when an artist is having creative block.
Journal/Sketchbook – Every artist, of every medium whether it be painter, sculptor, musician, writer, etc., needs to have a place to store their ideas. Of course, some artists are particular about the type of notebook they use so finding out their preferences might be a good idea, but once doing that, finding one that fits their needs and has a personal touch is a wonderful and meaningful gift.
Organizational Tools – Depending on the type of art your loved one makes, they may or may not need some way to better organize themselves. Artists are notorious for being messy and disorganized in their studios, most of which thrive in that environment, but it can never hurt to try and be a little more organized. Knowing your artistically inclined individual, think about what type of device (i.e. box, utensil holder, pencil case, folders, etc.) they might be able to utilize. (And it never hurts to ask them exactly what they could use!)
These are just my top 10 ideas for the art lover in your life. There is such a myriad of gifts out there, something for everyone regardless of the type of art they are interested in.
