With the summer days just around the corner, it seems reasonable to go on a shopping spree as part of the spring renewal. Gildshire understands the desire that results in “June shopping: buy this.” However, we are here to refine the experience a bit. Did you know that there are purchases that can be acquired in a month or so, at about half the price of June tags? Let’s take a deep dive into pricing patterns and the things you want to buy during “June shopping: buy this.” We’ve broken the categories into “Buy this, and “skip that.”
Lingerie and Swimwear:
Can you keep a secret, because June shopping: buy this is a GO at Vicky’s.
We begin with a surprising one. Common sense tells us that buying swimwear in June is counter-intuitive because the end-of-season sales will take place in August and September. Don’t follow the herd, except to the stores that have half-year sales in December and June. These stores include Victoria’s Secret, but also many regional chains that follow Vicky’s lead. Speaking of our favorite secret keeper, Victoria stopped selling swimwear a couple of years ago. Now, they are back.

Outdoor Cooking Implements:
If swimwear is good at the beginning of the season, grills, rotisseries, Egg brand charcoal cookers, and gas cooking machines must be a “buy now,” as well. That’s not correct. Thanks for playing. In fact, that grill that you want in the first ten days of June will be on deep discount during the last ten days of July. Hold off, buy a set of tongs and an apron that says, “Kiss the Cook,” and bide your time for a month and a half. The savings will be as spectacular as the ribs you will cook.
Skip that!
Movie Tickets:
Movie theaters offer a place to beat the summer heat, and some chains are offering discounted movie passes. Cinemark is featuring a $5.00 punch card pass for 10 movies. Other chains have come up with $1.00 and $2.00 admission prices for kid-centric movies. Is there a catch? Only that one adult admission be a part of the deal.

Brand Name Apparel:
The return of the sun seems like prime time for a wardrobe refresh that will knock the socks off of label readers everywhere. After all, we’ve covered up and hidden the goods since October! Gildshire feels bad because we would like to endorse this line of thinking, but we cannot. That’s because designer clothing will be red hot in July! That’s when the Nordstrom Anniversary sale takes place. Shoppers can save hundreds on major label garments throughout the Seattle-based department store. Mark July 19 on your calendar, because other clothing shops will follow Nordstrom and its lead. You can look forward to a buy now then. But, for now…
Skip that.
Bonuses and Freebies: A free something-or-other is always a “Buy this,” and June has plenty to offer. National Doughnut Day is on June 7, and doughnut shops and bakeries all over the land are giving out free goodies, often without any purchase necessary. Your smile is all the payment they need.
(But be a sport and take home some to the rest of the crew.)
That’s enough for now. We hope your June shopping: Buy this muscle is focused and ready for the month to come. There are some good buys, and some less-than-good-ones as well.
