What is the key to success? Success is something that we all want. No matter what we do, we want to do it successfully and we want to be respected. This refers to any job that we might be doing or other areas of our lives.
Success can have such a blissful and positive impact on how we feel about ourselves. The road to get to success can be a daunting and difficult road. On our way to success at work or in any area of our life, there are a lot of milestones on the way that we have to conquer. The road and the milestones never really end.
There are a lot of things that we have to consider if we want to be successful. Do we know what we want? Do we know what success looks like?
The first step is truly defining what success looks like for us? What do we want to achieve? Can we quantify it? Needless to say, we will never reach success if we can’t quantify it and if we don’t know exactly what success is for us?
Sometimes, we might think that we know what we want. We want to be successful. What does it mean to be successful? The answer to that can be very generic. I want my family to be healthy. I want my business to hit off. Success needs to be quantified in terms of what we do to have a healthy family. “I want my family to have healthy meals” is more specific but if you want to go deeper specify what meals your family should have on a daily or weekly basis.
I want my business to be successful. How much money do you want to make in a year? How much on a monthly basis? What are the steps that you can take to get there?
Success is not a Destination
Success is not a destination but it’s a road that you need to take to reach each milestone and meet your small goals. Also, success is a feeling. We might find people who believe that they are successful but when we hear their story, we might think: “That’s not what success is for me.”
Success is different for everyone. We might not think that something is a success for us but it truly is success for others and vice versa. Someone might be miserable if they’re reached your goals because their goals differ in a great way from yours.
What is the Key to Success?
Once you have a clear picture of success what matters is determination and self-discipline. The key is to not give up. To give up is too easy and if you give up often, it’s possible that giving up will become a habit for you.
However, the forgotten part of success is remaining authentic and in line with your goals. Maybe we want something because society marks that as success. This relates mostly to work-related success. Maybe we want a million-dollar business in a niche that we don’t have an interest in at all. What we always wanted to do is help animals and maybe become a vet, but we end up having a social media business or something opposite from what we see success to be.
To know what you want you should go back and look at what a younger version of you always wanted. Did you want to be a vet when you were younger? Or you wanted to be a teacher?
We must be aligned with our goals and not waste our time on goals that will not make us happy.
Remain authentic when creating and pursuing your goals.
Maybe You Are Successful Already
We often want more and more, but take a look at what you have at the moment. Sometimes we look for success without knowing that it would not make us happy. On the other side, we might completely miss that we are successful already.
Also, don’t forget that your purpose might change over time. In a decade your purpose and sense of success might be completely somewhere else in other areas of your life. Still, remain focused on the now and what you want to achieve today, in a month, or in a year to stay on the right path.
In conclusion, make sure your goals are in line with your authenticity, and once you find your authentic voice, it’s important not to give up.
